TOKYO – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today released its third annual Sustainability Report, which introduces Nissan’s CSR policy and the nine key areas of CSR activity.

Nissan’s CSR policy states that ethical conduct and strong corporate governance with a high degree of transparency, as well as a clear focus on diversity, are the foundation for all of the company’s activities worldwide. The policy also states that Nissan aims for sustained profitable growth, while at the same time contributing proactively to the sustainable development of mobility and society.

The nine key areas of activity are integrity, quality, safety, economic contribution, environment, value chain, brand, employees and philanthropy. Nissan will establish key performance indicators for each area, which will be published in next year’s report.

“CSR means conducting our business in a way that balances the three aspects of economic activity, environmental consideration and sociality in order to increase value for all stakeholders,” said Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn. “This concept is consistent with Nissan’s objective of creating value for all our stakeholders as established under the company’s current business plan, NISSAN Value-Up, which began in April 2005.”

Nissan’s stakeholders include customers, shareholders, employees, dealers, suppliers, as well as the communities in which the company works and operates.

In order to create a system to further strengthen CSR strategies and promote both internal and external communication on CSR, Nissan established a CSR group inside its communications division in April 2005, and appointed a corporate officer to oversee operations. A CSR steering committee was also established in April 2006 to manage the progress of CSR activities from a company-wide perspective.
